A new domestic terminal at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) in Mumbai promises to reduce the time spent getting out of the airport after landing by almost half.
The new Terminal 1B, inaugurated on Sunday, will have five baggage belts and dedicated baggage service facilities for every airline.
Air Deccan, Indigo, Jet Airways, Jet Lite and Spicejet will all be operating from the new terminal.
Go Air, which was operating from Terminal 1A, will shift to 1B from Tuesday.
Civil Aviation, said: "We have set the wheels in motion for upgrading airport infrastructure in India. The new Terminal 1B has resulted in an expansion capacity to meet growing domestic traffic. This would go a long way in benefiting both passengers and airlines and is a welcome improvement in Mumbai's infrastructure."
Apart from sporting a swanky refurbished look, the new terminal offers a fully renovated departures area with 80 check-in counters and expanded security areas for speedy security checks.
